ECC Family Update
Bearcat Families,Lunch Visitors
Families are welcome to join their students for lunch! Before entering the Coral Café, all visitors must check in and receive a visitor badge.Please remember that many of our young students are still adjusting to spending the school day away from their parents and guardians. During your visit, you may see other children become emotional because they wish their family members were there. Your own child may also have difficulty when it is time for you to leave. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our students continue building confidence and independence.
Every instructional minute is important as students work toward their individual goals and make progress in the curriculum. Checking a student out early each day has the same effect on instructional time as arriving late each day.
Once a child is enrolled in Pre-K or Kindergarten, regular attendance is required. Students must generally attend at least 90% of the days a class is offered. Additional information is available in Texas Education Code §25.085 and §25.092.
Our First Fin Fantastic ECC Assembly
We held our first assembly at the ECC on Friday! Students learned where to sit and practiced what it means to be a respectful audience member.We honored the Students of the Month from each classroom and announced our Junior Officers. Two of the students recognized will be selected to represent the ECC at an upcoming School Board meeting.
Parents and guardians are invited to attend an assembly when their child is being honored. Through these gatherings, we hope to teach our children how to celebrate one another and demonstrate expected behavior in a large-group setting.
As students build the stamina to participate for longer periods, we will gradually add more to our assemblies. We will also dive deeper into the Seven Powers of Conscious Discipline and recognize students who demonstrate those powers throughout the school day.
Conscious Discipline at the ECC
At the ECC, we use Conscious Discipline, a relationship-based approach that helps children feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.Rather than simply reacting to challenging behavior, our staff members use the Seven Powers of Conscious Discipline to remain calm, understand what a child’s behavior is communicating, and teach the skills the child may be missing.
Through daily routines, breathing strategies, positive choices, encouragement, empathy, and problem-solving, children learn how to manage strong emotions, communicate their needs, resolve conflicts, and take responsibility for their actions.
Our goal is to create a caring School Family where every child feels valued and mistakes are viewed as opportunities to learn and grow.
Grandfriends Lunches Expanded to Two Days!
Due to the outstanding interest in Grandfriends Day, we are expanding the celebration to two days. This will help ensure that we have plenty of space and food for everyone.- PK and Kindergarten Orange Teams: Friday, September 11

ECC Parent-Teacher Committee Meeting
Although I was unable to attend the PTO meeting at the elementary campus, Mrs. Comb attended on behalf of the ECC. She shared that there was a great deal of interest in supporting our campus. Many parents have also contacted us about volunteering, both through the PTO and directly at the ECC.I would like to invite interested families to an ECC Parent-Teacher Committee Meeting on Thursday, September 3, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at the ECC.
